Obodo in church, denies being hospitalised

Super Eagles midfielder, Christian Obodo, on Sunday expressed joy over what he described as his miraculous escape from kidnappers.
Obodo, who spoke during a thanksgiving service held at the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Effurun, said contrary to reports, he was not at anytime hospitalised after his ordeal.
The Udinese player who is currently on loan to Lecce in the Italian Seria A, also denied that his family was under threat from the kidnappers who had earlier abducted him.
“It is not true that I was hospitalised after I regained freedom from the kidnappers’’, he said.
He, however, expressed shock over the way he was abducted, but reiterated his earlier resolve not to be intimidated by the action of his abductors.
He said he did not undergo any medical treatment immediately after his release, although he had to contend with mosquitoes in the thick bush .
“I am glad I have been freed and I owe a lot of gratitude to God Almighty, President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin who prayed fervently for my freedom,” Obodo said.
The player, who was in company with his mother and other relatives, said Fufeyin’s “prayers really did wonders towards my release”.
Fufeyin said he was particularly grateful to God for hearing his prayers, adding that God did not disappoint him during Obodo’s travail.
“When Christan’s mother called on me, I went into a prayer session and within some hours she called that her son had been released unconditionally,” he claimed.
Some gunmen had seized Obodo in front of a church in Effurun, Warri, where he had gone for morning prayers, and kept him in their custody for over 24 hours.
The kidnappers had demanded about N30m before his release. But there had been controversy over whether any ransom was paid before he regained his freedom.
