Chairman of the House of Representatives
Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes Jagaba Adams Jagaba
has denied receiving the alleged $620,000 bribe money from embattled
former chairman of the ad hoc committee on subsidy probe, Rep. Farouk
Lawan.
In a letter to Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal dated 19th June, 2012, entitled, "Re: Investigation activities: Request for handing over of exhibits in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and taking gratification to prevent the course of justice," Jagaba (PDP, Kaduna) said, "I wish to state that there was never a time I was in possession of $620,000 or any other exhibits in my personal or official capacity as chairman of the House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes."
He expressed hope that the explanation would end speculation that his committee was in possession of the money.
